Rambo is ready to go out with all guns blazing

But if called upon, 'Rambo' is ready to bring down the curtain on his playing career with all guns blazing. "I thought I had retired at the end of last season," said the 37-year-old. "But, when we had a few injuries earlier in the season, the manager asked me to register again. I've played a few games recently and have enjoyed it. I certainly won't be in the starting line-up on Sunday and won't be standing there in the dug-out asking to get on because that's not my style. But, at the same time, I will be champing at the bit to get on and, if I do, then what a great way to finish off my playing career."

Ramage, who has been in the Junior ranks for 16 years with the exception of a short spell at Berwick Rangers, played for Linlithgow and Whitburn before being reunited with former team-mate David McGlynn at Olivebank.

The pair have guided The Burgh to cup triumphs and promotion to the Super League but Ramage reckons it has been mainly down to McGlynn.

"Davie has a tremendous will to win," he said. "He also has high standards, which he had as a player, too. He expects everyone to give their all and if they don't he's not slow in telling them. He's very good tactically, too, and certainly has an eye for a player, as he has shown in the way he has built the current team. "The good thing about this team is that they are all pals, with the majority of them living in a six or seven-mile radius of Musselburgh," he added. "They meet up on most Saturday nights and there's no doubt that we are heading into this game with a close-knit group of players."
