Pumphy out to humble Musselburgh

South DIVISION side Pumpherston travel to Super League outfit Musselburgh
tomorrow looking to cause an Emirates Scottish Cup upset.

On paper, Pumphy are the underdogs against a team who were beaten finalists just two seasons ago. However, manager Bob Main is hopeful his team can spring a surprise in their fourth-round tie.

“We’ve been on a good run recently and we’re going there with nothing to lose,” he said. “They are the Super League side and we respect that but we will go there and hopefully give a good account of ourselves.

“You never know what could happen and even a draw would give us a chance at home. It’s a one-off game and if we get chances, it’s important that we take them.”

Main, meanwhile, is happy with the way his squad is shaping up. “I came here from the Amateurs and brought some players with me,” he said. “They have adapted well and, with the good players already here, I’m happy with the squad.”

Musselburgh boss David McGlynn is taking no chances. “We’ve had Pumpherston looked at a couple of times and had them videoed so I can show the players how they play. They have some dangerous players, but if we can take our Super League form into the game on Saturday then we should win.”
