Celtic linked with Dordevic

Celtic could be set to hand Montenegrian striker Luka Dordevic a trial after he requested to be freed from his contract at Zenit St Petersburg. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Celtic by reports in his homeland and he could be ready to travel from Russia to Scotland in a bid to win a deal with the Ladbrokes Premiership title holders. Rangers accept bid

Rangers have accepted a bid from Northampton for midfielder Matt Crooks. The 23-year-old, who made just three appearances for the club last season, is also subject to interest from Scunthorpe United, who he spent time on loan with last season. Iron boss Graham Alexander has not given up hope of landing the player. (Scottish Sun)

Rodgers on Caulker

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has not ruled out a possible move for central defender Steven Caulker after confirming he has answered a “cry for help” from the troubled former England international. Caulker, who shone for a season on loan at Swansea City in the Premier League under Rodgers six years ago, recently revealed he had been driven to the brink of suicide by his alcohol and gambling addictions. Aberdeen close in on Arnason

Aberdeen’s pursuit of former defender Kari Arnason took a significant step closer after Omonia Nicosia agreed to let the Icelandic international leave on a free transfer. The 34-year-old enjoyed a productive year at Pittodrie earlier in his career and is keen on a return to Scotland’s north east. (Press and Journal)

Lennon confident of Whittaker deal

Hibs head coach Neil Lennon believes he will be getting three players in one as he prepares to bring Steven Whittaker back to Easter Road. The 33-year-old’s name has been linked with a return to the capital ever since he was released by Norwich City at the end of the season. Now Lennon is confident enough of capturing the signature of Whittaker early next week. (The Scotsman)

Inverness CT boss John Robertson has slapped a hands-off tag on midfielder Ross Draper - unless they meet the club’s hefty six-figure demand. Rivals Ross County are interested in keeping the player in the top flight and have had three bids rejected for the 28-year-old. (Press and Journal)

Ambrose back at Hibs

Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon has moved on from Efe Ambrose’s late return for pre-season after the Nigerian defender rejoined his team-mates. Lennon admitted earlier this week that he could not get in touch with his former Celtic player but has since told Hibs TV: “He had a personal problem to deal with.
