Pitch issues force ‘Linton derby’ to be played in Peebles

With this being the first ever encounter between Linton Hotspur (from West Linton) and East Linton, the “Linton derby” unfortunately had to be played on neutral ground at Peebles due to Hotspur’s pitch being resurfaced. Linton Hotspur’s ground is not the only one subject to surfacing issues as East Linton are in a battle with East Lothian council to get their ground treated due to the mole hills surrounding one side of the pitch. As a result of the state of their pitch they have started to lose players who fear for their safety on a weekly basis.

East Linton player-coach Gordon Rollo said: “We are waiting on a meeting with Councillor Paul McClellan about the state of the pitch and the need to get it rectified. So fingers crossed we can get this sorted out.”
