Pearson urges Dalkeith troops to wipe clean their Blackburn bogey

WILLIE PEARSON has challenged his high-flying Dalkeith players to end a ‘Blackburn bogey’ as they bid to move a step closer to winning the South Division title.

“We’ve not won there for seven years,” said Pearson ahead of the league leaders heading for West Lothian tomorrow.

“We are looking for that to change and, if we can get a win, then we’d have a foot in the door in our bid to win the title.”

Dalkeith go into the game two points ahead of both Falkirk and Tranent, the latter having seen their promotion hopes dented as they lost to local rivals Haddington in midweek.

Fauldhouse and Livingston are both five points off the pace but it’s still anyone’s guess who will claim that single spot in the Premier Division.

After tomorrow, Dalkeith face Whitburn then Fauldhouse, with a postponed game against Pumpherston still to be re-arranged. “I think Falkirk are still in the ascendancy and everyone seems to be bending backwards for them,” added Pearson.

“But we are still hanging in there and Haddington are still in with a chance as well.

“They are one of the best teams we’ve played this season and can go up if they win all their games.”

No matter what happens between now and the end of the campaign, Dalkeith will be able to hold their heads high.

“It’s been a great season,” said Pearson, who, when asked to reveal what had been the secret to the side’s success, added: “Togetherness.”
