Paul Sturrock exits Yeovil with club propping up League 2

Sturrock replaced acting manager Terry Skiverton in April but Yeovil have gone 12 games without a league win following last Saturday’s defeat at Northampton.

First-team coach Darren Way has been appointed interim manager and he will be assisted by Skiverton.

“We are very sad that the board had to reach this decision and we thank Paul for his hard work during his time at Huish Park,” said chairman John Fry in a statement on the club’s official website.

“We wish him well for the future. However, we all felt that in the light of recent results we had no alternative. We will now begin our search for a new manager.”

Sturrock took charge of his eighth different club – he has had two spells as Plymouth manager – when installed at Huish Park and has won promotion five times, but was unable to save the club from relegation in May.

Yeovil finished bottom of League One last term and have made a poor start this season.
