The Sun have reported that a formal approach will be made to Dens Park chief John Nelms in the next 24 hours.

Cardiff will be looking to replace Solksjaer as quickly as possible and it is believed controversial chairman Vincent Tan has already been informed of Hartley’s place on the shortlist and the Malaysian is understood to be impressed by by the Scot’s managerial CV. The odds on Hartley landing the job have already begun to be slashed by bookies with some making him even money to take the job.

Hartley could be set to follow in the footsteps of former team mate Stephen Pressley who has made a great start at new team Coventry.
