Inverness are seeking a replacement for Terry Butcher, who left the club earlier this month to join Hibernian.

Hartley is one of Scotland’s brightest managerial prospects, having guided Scottish Championship side Alloa to successive promotions since 2011.

Inverness hope to appoint a new manager before their Scottish Cup tie with Greenock Morton on Saturday.

Alloa chairman Mike Mulraney declined to address speculation directly, telling STV: “We never comment on any speculation concerning the future of manager.

“What we will confirm is the long held stance that should an appropriate club request permission to speak to our manager, we would give consent.”
