Partick Thistle 2 - 1 Livingston: Livi fall to second consecutive defeat

THISTLE leapfrogged Livingston with this win at blustery Firhill.

Thistle started brightly and might have gone ahead when they had a flurry of chances in quick succession. The best of them saw Craig Dargo meet Paul Cairney’s near-post corner with a crisp strike which was brilliantly turned behind by Andy McNeil. From the second flag kick, Thistle saw a further three efforts blocked.

Livingston went just as close when Kyle Jacobs saw his net-bound shot cleared off the line by Alan Archibald.

Having survived that scare, Thistle deservedly went ahead when Cairney jinked passed two defenders inside the right edge of the box and clipped over an inviting cross which Conrad Balatoni volleyed firmly into the net.

Thistle doubled their lead when Aaron Sinclair’s looping corner caught in the wind, deceiving the unfortunate Kenny Deuchar, who could only head the ball into the corner of his own net.

Livingston claimed a lifeline on the stroke of half-time Mark Fotheringham’s swirling free kick played tricks on the Jags defence and Deuchar pounced to atone for his earlier lapse.
