Partick shooting for top-six future

The Jags were promoted to the top flight last summer but ensured they would not suffer an instant return to the Championship by beating Hearts 4-2 at Tynecastle on Wednesday night.

Former Bolton midfielder Fraser struck his side’s second equaliser after Lyle Taylor had netted in between Callum Paterson and Danny Wilson’s strikes for Hearts during an entertaining first half in Gorgie.

Lee Mair and Kallum Higginbotham then won it for Alan Archibald’s side and Fraser is now setting his aim high for next term.

He told the official Thistle website: “The gaffer and Scott Patterson have been brilliant all season and next season I think we could go for top six.

“If we keep the squad and keep working as hard as we have, we could definitely push up the table - it’s all about building from here.”

Fraser’s goal was just his second for the club since returning north from England but the 19-year-old said the joy of scoring was topped by the final whistle.

He said: “It feels brilliant [to know we are safe], I don’t think I’ve ever had a better feeling. I can say that it’s the best feeling I’ve ever experienced in football.

“Obviously, at the end of the game we knew immediately what had happened so there were great scenes on the pitch in front of the fans and in the dressing room as well.”

Fraser’s 25-yard beauty tied Wednesday night’s game at 2-2 and he added: “I don’t think I’ll score a better goal than the one tonight.

“I had a wee bit of space just to take a touch so I did and just tried to hit it as hard as I could. As soon as the ball left my foot I knew exactly where it was going to end up.”
