Paolo Di Canio set for Swindon appointment

FORMER Celtic winger Paolo Di Canio is on the verge of being appointed as the new manager of Swindon, according to reports.

The 42-year-old Italian is set to replace Paul Hart and will take up his first managerial role at the County Ground.

Swindon were relegated this season and will play in the npower Football League Two next season.

Di Canio, who has been working as a pundit in Italy, had been linked with the vacant West Ham job.

Di Canio completed a move to Celtic in 1996, where he spent a single season before a two-year spell at Sheffield Wednesday followed.

He started his career in his homeland with Lazio, Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan - during which time he won the Serie A title and European Super Cup and claimed runners-up medals in both the UEFA Cup and European Cup.
