Ogilvie hopes for more of the same as Vale face Whitehill

Vale OF LEITHEN manager Fraser Ogilvie has only been in charge for one game although it was extremely significant as his relegation-threatened club beat table-toppers Spartans 2-1 at the weekend, writes KEITH ANDERSON.

The shock result – Vale had lost their previous five games – was very pleasing for Ogilvie who said: “Anybody who witnessed the game could not have argued with the result, which we thoroughly deserved. Our work rate and the tempo at which we played were superb.

“I knew before I took over last Wednesday that Vale had very good players and it is up to me to get the best out of them.”

Ogilvie will lead his team tonight against Whitehill Welfare at Victoria Park attempting to narrow the gap on Tynecastle, the team immediately above them in the Central Taxis Premier Division relegation area.

Ogilvie has a full squad available including Wayne Sproule, Paul Lee and Jamie Paterson who are free from recent suspensions and he added: “Whitehill are probably the form team in the league but I firmly believe that Vale can beat any team in the league.”

Whitehill Welfare see Gareth Thom and Stevie Manson return although Michael Bruce and Mike Herd remain suspended.

In the First Division, Gala Fairydean travel to meet Duns while Peebles Rovers entertain Coldstream.
