Niemi put Hearts on Moilanen trail

ANTTI Niemi may be missed at Hearts, the keeper’s heroics helping Southampton to giddy heights in the Premiership, but he is still looking out for his old club.

Niemi came to Hearts’ rescue when Roddy McKenzie broke a thumb on their mid-winter break in Portugal by recommending fellow Finn Tepi Moilanen.

Hearts’ head coach has since taken Moilanen, frozen out by Preston manager Craig Brown, on loan, the former Scotland chief confirming that Niemi was the go-between in the move.

Craig Levein likes what he has seen: "Tepi has a reasonably good pedigree," he said. Moilanen, who had a health scare at 19, is now looking to revive his career at Tynecastle.
