Morton 1 - 0 Raith Rovers: Ton edge to third successive league win

FIRST Division dark horses Morton lifted themselves to third place with their third successive league win, although it was tough on Raith who will feel they were due more for their efforts.

With both teams in decent form, there was never going to be much between the two, and so it proved during a tight opening half. Chances were few and far between but Morton were denied early doors by a brilliant fingertip block by David McGurn from a thumping Archie Campbell header, and Raith will reflect on a remarkable miss from David Smith when he failed to hit an open goal.

Raith shaded proceedings and were again unlucky soon after the restart, Brian Graham clattering a shot into the body of home keeper, Derek Gaston.

Defences were well on top and it took a special strike to settle the points, Stephen Stirling firing home from all of 25 yards to secure the points for Morton even if they scarcely deserved them.
