McInnes to sign Foster for Bristol

Aberdeen captain Richard Foster is expected to become Derek McInnes’s first signing for Bristol City later today.

The former St Johnstone manager has negotiated an undisclosed fee for the versatile player who spent last season on loan at Rangers. Foster is expected to travel to Bristol for signing talks and a medical with a view to completing a move to the English Championship.

It will be a blow for the Dons to lose their skipper and one of their better players this season but Foster can expect a massive wage increase.

However, Craig Brown needs funds to strengthen his own squad and is willing to accept a fee for someone whose contract runs out in 16 months time.

The Aberdeen manager is ready to bring Russell Anderson back to the club and also has to find the money to keep the likes of Kari Arnason, Scott Vernon, Isaac Osbourne and Andrew Considine at Pittodrie as their contracts end in the summer.
