McCall had faith he would win appeal

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall said yesterday he was always confident he would win his appeal against a one-match touchline ban.

McCall had been charged by the SFA with breaching the rule that includes offences such as aggressive behaviour and foul and abusive language to match officials, but maintained he only described a disputed decision by referee Craig Thomson during the Scottish Cup defeat against Aberdeen last month as “embarrassing”.

Following the ban being lifted on Thursday, McCall said yesterday: “I was relatively confident. I think the correct decision was made.”
