Mark Wilson on Scottish Cup rivalry with Watson

Wilson, who is in his second stint at Tannadice after returning in the summer, said: “I’m thriving on the rivalry between Keith and myself. Competition is always healthy at any club. Obviously I want to play every game but I’m at the stage of my career now where I know that’s not going to be possible. Keith’s had his injury problems as well over the years, so we actually bounce off each other quite well.

“There are some games I’ve looked at and thought ‘God, I wish I was playing in that’. But Keith will be the same. I got the nod for the semi-final against Rangers at Ibrox and against Celtic at Parkhead earlier in the season.

“We’ve been neck and neck and it’ll be interesting to see who’s selected for the final.

“I’m feeling as good now as I did when I arrived back here. But I think that’s because I’m not playing in every game. If I did, I wouldn’t be in this state. I wouldn’t be able to train every day. But I can now because I’m well managed by the gaffer [Jackie McNamara]. He realises when I can and can’t play.”
