Lions looking for a lift after home horror show against Hamilton

LIVINGSTON defender Paul Watson insisted it was a day to forget for the Lions as Hamilton Academical cruised to a 4-0 victory in West Lothian.

Jon McShane gave Accies an early lead before Livi’s Jason Talbot saw red for a lunge on Alex Neil, and Daniel Redmond, along with a Jon Routledge double, secured all three points for Billy Reid’s men.

Watson said the performance was a poor one for Livi, who travel to the Falkirk Stadium this weekend to take on Steven Pressley’s men.

He said: “It was just one of those days were nothing went for us. We’ve got to just pick ourselves up and go again at Falkirk.

“The good thing about football is we have another game to put it right.

“We’ll go back on the training pitch and the manager and John Collins will have us going again. We’re dangerous going forward but we need to tighten up at the back.

“On Saturday we were poor at that and I’ll hold my hands up for that.”

Hamilton went in front when McShane blasted home from a tight angle on three minutes, before Livi trialist Kevin McCann clipped the post with a drive from the edge of the box.

Talbot’s red card then swung momentum Accies’ way, and Redmond slotted home via the post three minutes later.

Routledge’s bobbling effort eluded the grasp of keeper Andy McNeil on the half hour to make it three, before Routledge got his second and Hamilton’s fourth on 81 minutes with a fine individual strike.
