The visitors were denied a precious three points, though, when Darren Lavery pounced from close range a minute from time.

East Stirlingshire 1, Albion Rovers 4

Michael Dunlop’s early opener and a double from Chris Dallas gave Rovers a valuable three-goal cushion.

Paul Quinn pulled one back from the spot, but was dismissed late on before Mark McGuigan netted Rovers’ fourth.

Montrose 2, Peterhead 1

The visitors’ talisman Rory McAllister opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a cool finish.

Montrose levelled through former-Peterhead man Bryan Deasley and, with ten minutes remaining, Deasley struck again to seal the three points.

Dennis Wyness, Craig Gunn and Paul Harkins were all on target for Elgin, but Anthony Quinn’s double brought the hosts within reach.

With 13 minutes left, Portuguese striker Joao Pereira Vitoria snatched a leveller with a composed finish.
