Elgin took the lead in the 29th minute through a Daryl McHardy effort. This was cancelled out early in the second half by Marc McKenzie. Blair Henderson put Mackay’s men ahead on the hour, but the spoils looked like they would be shared when Brian Cameron equalised in the 76th minute.

Stirling left-back Jamie Mills had other ideas though, and his late effort sealed the win for the visitors.

This result allowed Forfar to extend their lead at the top to seven points as they ran out comfortable 2-0 victors over Berwick at Station Park, thanks to goals in both halves by David Cox and Lewis Milne.

Arbroath leapfrogged opponents Clyde into third place courtesy of a 4-0 rout at Gayfield, with goals from Bobby Linn, Martin Scott (2) and Ryan McCord.

The battle at the bottom of the table has also tightened. Edinburgh City recorded their first ever home win in League competition thanks to an 81st-minute Ryan Porteous strike against Annan. This leaves the new men only two points behind both Cowdenbeath and Montrose, due to the Blue Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Paul Hegarty’s men.

Montrose were the architects of their own downfall, first allowing Cowden the lead through a 20th minute Nikolay Todorov penalty. Then, going down to 10 men after only 29 minutes. Kris Renton completed the scoring in the 57th minute.
