Dunfermline returned to the top of League 1 with a 3-0 success at Stranraer.

The visitors struck after four minutes through Michael Moffat and Ben Everton-Richards headed in a second on his 24th birthday. Mickael Antoine-Curier rounded things off with a header.

Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston said: “We moved back to the top, scored a few goals and kept a clean sheet so it was a good day. Winning at a hard venue is also a great start to the second quarter.”

Stair Park manager Brian Reid said: “Dunfermline were good at taking their chances and we weren’t.”

Ayr United lost top spot but came from two goals behind to draw 2-2 at Forfar with only ten men. Danny Denholm flicked the Loons in front with little more than a minute played and Iain Campbell thumped home a second in first-half injury time. After the restart, Andy Graham’s header pulled a goal back, before visiting skipper Nicky Devlin was dismissed for a foul on Denholm. Ayr were riled and showed it when Ross Caldwell equalised.

Airdrie ended a three-game winless run by defeating visitors Brechin 1-0 and sending them back to the foot of the table, Liam Watt scoring the winner.

Albion Rovers’ fine season continued with a 1-0 home success over Peterhead, John Gemmell scoring the winner in the last minute.

Cowdenbeath moved up to ninth after their 2-2 draw with Stenhousemuir at Central Park, but will be kicking themselves at not seeing the game out and collecting three points. Brad Donaldson headed them in front in the first half and Greig Spence doubled the lead, but with fouur minutes left, Ross Meechan scored with a header and debutant Lewis Small levelled just before the end.
