Kyle’s delight as he returns with a victory

LIVINGSTON moved into fourth spot in the First Division with a 2-1 victory over Raith Rovers. And, for Kyle Jacobs, winning couldn’t have tasted sweeter.

After Iain Russell’s opener was cancelled out by Rovers’
Brian Graham, Craig Barr struck to take Livi above their opponents in the table.

Jacobs returned after three months on the sidelines, coming on as a sub with just under 20 minutes left to help secure the three points.

And, despite filling in at full back on Saturday, the midfielder says he’s just relieved to be back in action.

He said: “I’m delighted. It’s been a frustrating season for me with getting fit and then injured again, so it’s good to get a run-ut again and, hopefully, I can keep it going until the end of the season.

“It was a great result for us. Other results went our way and I thought the boys did well. We passed it well but I thought we should a lot of grit to see the game out, too.”

Livi started brightly with
Stefan Scougall firing a
20-yard shot off the post. Raith responded, and Graham’s effort was well tipped over by Andy McNeil.

Then, Tony Andreu and Liam Fox saw efforts for the Lions saved by David McGurn before they took the lead on 29 minutes.

Jesus Garcia Tena’s pass freed Marc McNulty and he chipped across goal for Russell to steer the ball home.

Five minutes later, it was 1-1, as Graham turned home a corner after a fine McNeil stop. The Raith striker then hit the bar before the break after sending in a curling shot from
30 yards, while Andreu fired a ferocious shot wide of the target.

Four minutes into the second half, Livi got the winner.

Tena twisted, turned and spun his way down the left wing to square for Barr, who slotted the ball underneath McGurn.

From there, Raith struggled to break through the home back line despite enjoying much of the ball, and sub Jordan Morton almost made it three for Livi in stoppage time, but his shot went wide.
