King and Turner on the mark for Star

Newtongrange Star 4Dalkeith 1

Newtongrange capitalised on the chances against their future Premier League opponents.

Chris King put Star ahead with a cute chip on nine minutes despite Thistle’s bright start. Five minutes later, King netted the second rifling in a powerful drive from the edge of the box. Stephen Pudledski put Dalkeith back in contention on 23 minutes firing home at the back post. Star winger Joe Dunbar provided the cross for Lewis Turner to score the third on 32 minutes after a goalmouth scramble.

The second half failed to live up to the standards of the first, and a series of bookings and fouls disrupted the flow of the game. It was Turner who scored the clincher for Star on 85 minutes when he tapped in from close range with the visitors screaming for offside.
