Haddington win 3-1 on pens

THIS was a huge scalp for Haddington. Gary Sutherland glanced a header to put St Andrews ahead after 27 minutes and Haddington found the going harder when Jackie Myles was sent off early in the second half but they equalised in the 80th minute when a Kevin Bracks effort was blocked back out to him and he slammed it home. St Andrews then had Kris Brash and Kevin Fotheringham sent off. Haddington held their nerve to win the penalty shoot-out.

Hill OF BEATH inflicted Bo’ness with their second consecutive defeat with two goals from Craig Smart, the first after 71 minutes and the second with eight minutes remaining, blasting in from an acute angle. Bo’ness substitute Kevin Watt hit the Hill of Beath post with a late header.

Lochee took the lead after a quarter of an hour when a Marc O’Leary strike took a deflection. Bathgate equalised from the penalty spot when Chris Jeffrey was brought down, Lee Johnston converting. They took the lead minutes later when Chris Wilson scored.

Arniston made hard work of this win. Mark Stevenson put them ahead after 25 minutes. Into the second half and John Martin and Lyal Shaw gave Glenrothes the lead. However a spirited comeback saw first Tadg Moriarty head the equaliser then Ryan Somerville put Arniston ahead again to push the Gorebridge side up the table. JP McLennan was sent off for Arniston.

The game sprang into life in the 61st minute when Robbie Feeney blasted home from a tight angle to put the ’Dale in front. The striker’s delight was short lived though as he was red carded ten minutes later for diving inside the box. This was to prove costly when, in the 87th minute, substitute Joe Dunbar slotted home the equaliser.

From the kick-off, Penicuik were denied a penalty when Brigain was brought down in the box and then found themselves a goal down in the 11th minute when Lunan scored for the visitors. Myles then added a second for Broughty in the 38th minute. Penicuik hit the woodwork twice before Thomson got one back for the home side.

A DRAW was probably the right result although, in three minutes, Morris was unlucky to see his shot come of the bar with Broxburn’s Holliday beaten. Broxburn had four good chances to snatch a victory with Cairns heading just over twice and Jeffrey not finding the net with two good chances.

Stoneyburn had Tranent goalkeeper Sinclair Inglis to thank for their opening goal on 37 minutes, when his goal-kick rebounded off Gary Calvey and the striker capitalised. Tranent equalised on 58 minutes through Chris Inglis. Michael McCormack slotted home from close range on 67 minutes to bring Tranent’s unbeaten league run to an end.

Paul BYRNE opened the scoring for the visitors with a nice shot into the corner, but, around the half hour Whitburn were ahead with a Bryan King double, the first a well taken penalty and the second a header. The scores were levelled against the run of play when Charles Pearson bundled a poor Franny Carlin punch into the net. King then hit the bar and missed a penalty.
