Johnston set to wait for advice over Rabiu Ibrahim

The midfielder spent two nights in hospital where he underwent tests after collapsing during Killie’s 2-0 win over Ross County on Saturday.

The 22-year-old is not expected to feature in this weekend’s game against Hearts as the club wait for further information on his condition.

Johnston said: “We are still waiting to hear. He was in yesterday. His results have been sent to a specialist and we are just waiting for some feedback to give us a bit of guidance and see what we’ve to do. I don’t think he will be involved this weekend.

“He went down, he was feeling dizzy and he can’t really remember what happened.

“You can’t take any chances with that so we will speak to the medical people and get advice from them.

“At the time I thought it was a knock because he got a knock about 30 seconds beforehand. It wasn’t until later on at half-time that the physio told us what happened.”

Meanwhile, Johnston declined to comment on Kilmarnock fans’ plans to explore club ownership.

Supporters and business groups have agreed to work together in a bid to mirror recent moves by Hearts and Dunfermline fans to take control of their clubs.

Representatives from seven bodies will form a working group to explore community ownership with the help of Supporters Direct Scotland.

Killie fans have staged protests against the stewardship of chairman Michael Johnston, which have included partial boycotts of home games and red card displays.

Asked for his thoughts on the issue, Johnston said: “To be honest, we’ve got enough to worry about with the football.

“We will just concentrate on the football. We’ve got a massive game this weekend so we can’t let anything else get in the way.”

Kilmarnock welcome Hearts to Rugby Park aiming for a second consecutive win after picking up their first victory of the season last week.

Bottom side Hearts – who began the season with a 15 point deduction for going into administration – head into the match on minus seven points, with 11th-placed Killie on six points.

Johnston said: “We’ve got to look forward and we’ve got to make sure Rugby Park is a hard place to come to and start getting results there. We’ve got to build on the result from the weekend.

“We know how difficult a task it’s going to be. Hearts have got a lot of good young players, with good energy, so we’ve got to be at our very best again to get a result.”
