The former Dundee United forward is yet to be capped at senior level, but scored a double in the Ram’s 5-0 win over Wolves, and has scored four goals in his last four matches for the Championship side.

Russell, 24, joins team-mates Craig Forsyth and Chris Martin in Gordon Strachan’s player pool but Craig Bryson is set to remain at Pride Park for treatment on a hip injury which has seen him miss the last two matches.

Scotland face the Republic of Ireland in their Group D Euro 2016 qualifier on Friday November 14, before taking on England in a friendly match on November 18.

Both matches will be played at Celtic Park stadium.
