Barton was alleged to have placed bets on 44 matches between 1 July and 15 September, following his summer move from Burnley to Rangers.
The former England international attended the hearing at Hampden today, where he admitted breaching the rules. The SFA then decided to hand down an immediate one-match suspension as punishment.

It would be up to his next football association whether that ban carries over to his next club.
