The former England international attended the hearing at Hampden today, where he admitted breaching the rules. The SFA then decided to hand down an immediate one-match suspension as punishment.

Seeing as the 34-year-old has already left Rangers, having had his contract terminated earlier this month, it’s unlikely he’ll ever have to serve his suspension in Scottish football.

It would be up to his next football association whether that ban carries over to his next club.
