The midfielder’s current deal with Burnley expires this summer and he’s been mulling over a number of offers, including one from the Ladbrokes Championship title winners.

Yesterday he dropped a hint that his next move would be to Govan, as he included a #WATP hashtag, popular among Rangers fans on social media, along with lyrics to Bob Dylan’s classic hit ‘Like A Rolling Stone’.

He’s now gone one step further by stating that he’s made up his mind on which club he’ll sign for, before including a hashtag that recites lyrics from Roy Orbison’s ‘Penny Arcade’, a song that’s played before every Rangers game at Ibrox.

He wrote: “Tough decision but it’s now made. Onwards and upwards from here. #Rollupandspendyourlastdime”

Rangers manager Mark Warburton alluded to Barton taking a pay cut to join the club, though hoped the former Manchester City and Newcastle United player would be sold on the Glasgow club’s “history” and “tradition”.
