LIVERPOOL’S £15 million midfielder Joe Allen could miss Wales’ forthcoming World Cup qualifier with Scotland at Hampden.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers revealed the internationalist, who came on in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Tottenham, requires surgery to mend a long-standing shoulder complaint

Rodgers said: “We made a change for the Tottenham game, with Joe Allen having been struggling since October with his shoulder and he’ll probably need an operation.”

It remains to be seen when the operation will take place, but Wales manager Chris Coleman is already facing up to the prospect of being without Adam Matthews for the double- header against Scotland and Croatia after the Celtic full-back injured his hamstring in last week’s Champions League defeat by Juventus.
