The former Dundee, Dunfermline and Arbroath boss, 63, will begin work immediately and will be in charge of the Irn-Bru First Division club against the Pars at the Doubletree Dunblane Stadium on Saturday.

He takes over from former management duo John O'Neill and Roddy Grant, who departed the club yesterday.

Albion have won just three times in the league this season and are ninth in the table, four points above Dundee, who last week were docked 25 points for going into administration.

Stirling spokesman Paul Goodwin said: "Jocky Scott is one of the most experienced managers in Scottish football and it is that experience we are looking to benefit from as we work towards survival in the First Division.

"He has managed at the top level in Scotland and has experience of the English leagues too with Sunderland, Notts County and Plymouth Argyle.

"We are delighted that he has agreed to join us."
