A 3-0 semi-final victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden was prefaced by a silent prayer from man-of-the-match Jake Mulraney and followed by a call from striker Uche Ikpeazu for the Hearts fans to have greater belief in manager Craig Levein.

If the all-star coulda-been-a-contender, coulda-been-a-Hibee fantasy XI comprising the prodigious talents who slipped through the Easter Road net had actually played together in the green and white, then a familiar routine would have been Gordon Strachan popping a crafty ball into the box, Willie Pettigrew having his snap volley blocked and Robbo – because it was never over until the fat striker scored – ramming home the injury-time winner.
