Scotland Under-21s return positive Covid test ahead of crunch Greece qualifier

The Scottish FA has confirmed that a member of the Under-21s backroom staff returned a positive test for Covid-19 on Sunday and has not travelled to the match that will determine whether Scotland qualify for the Under 21 European Championships for the first time since 1996.

The member of staff will self-isolate for 10 days while one other member of the backroom team has been deemed as a close contact by the Scottish Government and will also self-isolate for 14 days.

All other playing and non-playing staff members have tested negative and the match is due to go ahead as planned.

Scot Gemmill’s side kept their fate in their own hands by coming from two goals down to draw with Croatia at Tynecastle last Thursday and now require a victory in Athens to book their place at next summer’s Under 21 tournament.
