Motherwell player tests positive for Covid-19 ahead of Ross County clash

A member of the Motherwell squad has tested positive for Covid-19, according to reports.

The test rules the player out of the Steelmen’s Scottish Premiership match at home to Ross County on Saturday.

A statement from the Fir Park side read: “A member of our playing squad has tested positive for Covid-19.

"No others have been required to isolate under contact tracing procedure.

"As a precaution, players and staff have been tested again on Friday morning.”

Yesterday, St Mirren confirmed that a number of positive coronavirus tests had been recorded following the latest round of testing.

A statement read: “St Mirren Football Club can confirm that following another round of testing we have unfortunately received more positive Covid-19 cases.

"In line with Government guidelines, those affected will self-isolate for 10 days.

"This has been a hugely challenging time for the club but the health and wellbeing of our players and staff remains our utmost priority.”
