N’Golo Kante, Chelsea

As one of the most reliable midfielders in the Premier League, Kante is worthy of a place in any self-respecting midfield, even as he’s had to adapt to all kinds of odd tactical demands in his more recent years at Stamford Bridge.

While he has shown himself more than willing to be shifted around any which way, his adductors sadly don’t feel the same way – he came off with an injury during the 2-0 loss to Manchester United and is now set to miss several key games.

With Chelsea set to play six games in the next three weeks, including their massive Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, it really could not have come at a worse time.

Should I keep him in my FPL side?

With Kante facing at least three weeks on the sidelines, it might be wise to let the industrious midfielder go.

Jonny Castro Otto, Wolves

Just as one left wing-back was coming back from a lengthy spell out, another was forced off in Wolves’ comprehensive victory over Norwich.

While Wolves will be delighted to have Ruben Vinagre back, they’d much rather do without sacrificing Otto for the privilege, especially with another packed few weeks ahead.

With their small squad playing a truly absurd number of games this season, it’s no surprise that Wolves have lost one or two to the treatment room over the course of the campaign, but fortunately, Otto’s knock doesn’t look to be to serious.

Should I keep him in my FPL side?

Yes. Otto has been a steady earner over the course of the season and this knock doesn’t look likely to keep him off the pitch long. At most, drop him to the bench for the weekend.

Tomas Soucek, West Ham

Every armchair football scout likes the idea of getting in on the ground floor when an intriguing new player arrives.

West Ham’s towering centre-mid Tomas Soucek certainly looks like he has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League, and anyone who noted his habit for scoring from set-pieces might have fancied them for their fantasy squad too.

Sadly, with only three Premier League games under his belt, Soucek has been laid up by a groin injury and looks set to miss three weeks or so.

Following their narrow Monday night loss to Liverpool, West Ham said that "We can confirm that Tomas Soucek suffered a low grade injury last night and is likely to be out for approximately three weeks.”

Should I keep him in my FPL side?

Probably not. It’s exciting to back an unknown quantity and Soucek does look he could be a smart pick in the future but he looks likely to be missing for the better part of a month now.

Lucas Digne, Everton

French defender Lucas Digne has been one of the most reliable performers throughout a fraught Everton season.

He was much missed in the 3-2 defeat to Arsenal, having been forced out of the starting line-up at short notice after suffering a muscle strain.

Fortunately, though, the injury does not appear to be serious and Everton have confirmed that he should be fine to face Manchester United.

Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that "Digne had a problem during the week and tried to train yesterday but was not confident, so I preferred to leave him at home to train and be ready for the next game

Yeah, it appears to have been just a minor strain and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be back in the starting eleven for the next match.

Chris Wood, Burnley

Although his name might not carry the cache of your Sergio Agueros or your Harry Kanes, Chris Wood’s 99 points put him just outside the Premier League’s top 10 forwards this season.

He actually does break into the top 10 in terms of which strikers have found themselves in the Dream Team most often, sitting comfortably above the likes of Firmino and Gabriel Jesus.

Sean Dyche has already confirmed that he hopes to be able to call on him again for the trip to Newcastle: “Woody was on the grass with the physios (on Friday) so we are hopeful that he will be back around it.”

Should I keep him in my FPL side?

It’s not the safest bet but yes, probably. Wood is currently rated as having a 75% chance of featuring this week and all the signs look good.
