Ian Murray calls on Dumbarton to get back on track

DUMBARTON manager Ian Murray has challenged his relegation-threatened side to get back on track after seeing their scintillating form of January and early February elude them in recent weeks.

The Sons won six of Murray’s first eight league games in charge to haul themselves off the bottom of the First Division, but they remain second bottom and threatened by the spectre of a play-off after taking just one point from their last four games.

Tonight they visit a Hamilton side five points ahead of them and Murray said: “No-one is getting away from us but we have not put any pressure on the teams above us for a few weeks now. Winning this game would see us do that again.”

Accies are at full strength, while Dumbarton can field Robbie Winters as a trialist for a final time, but Bryan Prunty and Stuart Urquhart are doubts.

The other First Division match between Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle fell victim to the weather yesterday, while the Second Division clash between Brechin and bottom side Albion Rovers is in danger of going the same way. Brechin have only managed three home fixtures in the last three months and now have to squeeze in 13 games in the remaining eight weeks of the season. “It is not looking great already, as there is a fair amount of snow on the surface,” said manager Ray McKinnon.

In the Third Fivision, fourth-placed Berwick will be looking to make it four wins in five games when they host second-place Queen’s Park. The Shielfield side welcome back Lee Currie and Kevin McDonald, while Queen’s Park, who have won five of their last six games, are still without Tony Quinn.
