Hutchie hit Leith for six

Ryan Fox put Hutchie 1-0 ahead early in the game, but Leith fought back to overturn the score and lead 2-1. Euan McGachie equalised after 20 minutes and five minutes later, the teenager grabbed his second of the match when he pounced on Marco McBride’s corner.

However, Hutchie levelled matters by notching the fourth goal of a pulsating first half when Gabrie Auriemma struck five minutes before the interval.

Auriemma’s goal appeared  to re-energise the Hutchie  players and they sealed their  progression with four goals in the  second half.

Leith goalkeeper Jordan Pettigrew was in fine form, but he could do nothing about Cameron Begbie’s penalty after former Leith star, Fraser Paton, had been upended just inside the box. The penalty incident saw Leith reduced to ten players. Paton, himself, then made it 4-2 with a fantastic strike before Cameron McAlpine sealed the win with the last two goals of the game.

Hutchie will meet either Tynecastle or Spartans FC Youth in the final.

McIvor magic

DANIEL McIVOR conjured up a dramatic winner in the last minute of extra-time as Spartans 17s beat Cardonald Thistle 1-0 to book their place in next month’s Scottish Cup final at Airdrie United’s Excelsior  Stadium.

With the game at Newtongrange’s New Victoria Park entering its final seconds and the outcome seemingly destined to be decided by penalty kicks, McIvor produced a moment of magic as he gathered the ball wide on the right before unleashing a spectacular strike that swerved into the top right corner of the net.

Spartans’ Blair Atkinson had the best opportunity in normal time but was unable to convert a first-half penalty.

Both teams created several chances, with the woodwork also being struck but it was the  Edinburgh teenagers who were celebrating after 120 minutes. Spartans coach Scott Dishington is looking forward to leading his players out in North Lanarkshire.

He said: “This is huge for Spartans as the youth set-up hasn’t been going for too long and we don’t go chasing players like some of the other teams.

“We are really looking forward to the final but still have our eye on the league as well.”

Redhall rout

REDHALL STAR 13s continued their charge towards the  Division 4 title after handing out a thrashing to visitors Haddington Athletic Colts 6-0 at Redhall Park.

League leaders Star have yet to drop any points in the league campaign this season and sit top with 36 points from 12 played. However, coach Gavin Millar isn’t ready to accept the title is theirs and has urged his players to focus on one game at a time.

Millar said: “There are a lot of games to go so we’ve got some big matches coming up. I think we have snuck over the line in a few of the games this season, to be honest, so I wouldn’t read too much into the fact we haven’t dropped any points. Hopefully we can keep it  going.”

A brace from Nathan Robertson and Lorenzo Parente, as well as individual efforts from Tommy Robertson and  Bockarie Sonnah, ensured Redhall’s 100 per cent league record remains intact.
