Highland League: Cove climb back to top

Cove Rangers saw off rivals Deveronvale 3-1 to regain the outright lead at the top.

Scott Fraser’s own goal gave Cove a 31st-minute opener. Craig Cowie replied after the break but Martin Johnston tapped in Cove’s
second after 67 minutes before Vale had Graeme Rodger ordered off. Mike McKenzie then clinched it for Cove.

Huntly staged a remarkable four-goal comeback to confound bogey team Inverurie Locos.

The home side trailed 3-0 by the break, with Marc Young Stuart McKay and Neil Gauld on target. When Gauld struck again early in the second half to make it 4-0, it looked game over.

But a red card for Locos’ McKay was followed by a remarkable nine-minute rampage after 63 minutes. Jason Coyle and Michael Fyfe both hit doubles to salvage the point in a 4-4 draw.

Clach pulled off an equally stunning comeback to win 3-2 at Fraserburgh after trailing 2-0.

Daniel Cowie and John Willox were on target for the Broch before the break. But late on Gordy Morrison struck twice for Clach and Paul Brindle claimed a
winner right at the death.

Keith earned a 4-2 victory at Lossiemouth, while Formartine won 2-1 at Brora. A Garry Harris double gave Turriff a 2-1 victory over Forres and Rothes won 2-0 away to Fort William.
