Highland League: Allan treble is not enough

WICK Academy winger Davie Allan proved an eight-minute wonder as he tore Formartine apart with a remarkable early treble.

But Steve Paterson’s hosts, 3-0 down inside the first 12 minutes, stormed back in the second half to snatch a 3-3 draw, with Mike Ewen producing a match-saving double after Calum Bagshaw pulled a goal back just before the break. It was yet another dramatic day in what now looks like a five-way title race also embroiling Clach and Nairn County.

Deveronvale retain an interest but look to have slipped just too far below the main pack of five.

Cove showed their strength in a 2-0 win away to dethroned champions Forres Mechanics.

Martin Johnston and Ryan Stott scored in each half for the leaders.

Clach’s momentum ebbed a little as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Deveronvale, but Nairn County got back on track with a 2-0 win at Turriff.
