Lifelong fans voted on to Hibernian board

FRANK Dougan and Amit Moudgil have been elected new non-executive directors of Hibernian by the club’s supporters.

The two lifelong fans, who will represent the views of fans on the club’s board, came out on top in a poll of 17 candidates. Out of more than 3,000 votes cast, Dougan, a former treasurer of the Hibernian Supporters’ Club, topped the poll with 571 votes and Moudgil, who works in the finance sector, polled 343 votes.

In his personal statement prior to election, Dougan said: “I would like to think having fan representation on the board can have a positive impact on the football club and I can assure all fans that I would not remain on the board if I felt the role was not being taken seriously by the other board members or if it was little more than a public relations exercise.”

Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie said: “The club said it was committed to greater supporter representation, and I am delighted so many supporters took the time to vote. We will welcome the new directors to the board at our next meeting and look forward to their insight and input.”
