We took control of the match from kick off and, apart from a short spell at the start of the second half, Ayr were never really at the races.
This time Hibs made the difference in quality count. All in all it was very nearly the perfect day out at the fitba’ for the Hibbies. The atmosphere inside the ground was superb, both sets of fans providing a very noisy backdrop to events on the pitch. Somerset Park may not have all the mod cons but, as a venue for this cup tie, it was hard to beat.
If those ruling our game really want to reconnect with the ordinary fans then fast tracking plans for standing sections in the SPL would be a good start.
