Sodje poised to leave Hibs as he heads for Belgium

HibERNIAN striker Akpo Sodje looks set to become the fourth player to leave Easter Road this month after being given permission to go on trial at Belgian top-flight club KVC Westerlo.

The much-travelled Londoner is looking to impress the relegation-threatened side in training in the hope of landing a deal.

Hibs are unlikely to demand a fee for a player that has made only four substitute appearances since manager Pat Fenlon’s appointment in November, with Sodje’s cameo outing in the 7 January Scottish Cup win at Cowdenbeath potentially his last for the club.

Colin Calderwood signed the 31-year-old on an 18-month deal last January and the marksman has gone on to feature 31 times for Hibs.

Sodje netted six goals at the end of last season but has largely been considered a squad player this term.

Fenlon is also reported to be running the rule over Arsenal striker Rhys Murphy with English Championship outfit Derby said to have rejected a loan approach for Scotland cap Chris Maguire.
