Scottish Cup final: Recent form

HEARTS and Hibs go into this afternoon’s engrossing Scottish Cup final sporting remarkably similar records since the last Edinburgh derby two months ago.

Hearts emerged 2-0 victors from that meeting at Tynecastle on 18 March, thanks to goals from Craig Beattie and Suso Santana, but have suffered an indifferent run of form since.

The Tynecastle outfit have won five times, lost four and drawn once, with one of those wins being the quarter-final replay success against St Mirren.

Meanwhile, Hibs have enjoyed four wins, four defeats and one draw from one less game.

Hearts may have won only one of their last five outings since defeating Celtic in last month’s semi-final but will comfort themselves with the fact their matches were in the top-six and that two of those losses came against the Old Firm.

Hibs, on the other hand, have not faced either of Glasgow’s big two since the last derby and instead won just two of their five games in the bottom six. They defeated Aberdeen 2-1 at Pittodrie and then romped to a 4-0 win against bottom-club Dunfermline.
