Scottish Cup Final: Fans to find out today about ticket allocations

SCOTTISH Cup finalists Hibernian and Hearts have agreed to announce details of their sale of tickets for the 19 May match at lunchtime today.

The two Edinburgh clubs reached the agreement, made in accord with the Scottish Football Association, at an organisational meeting at Hampden yesterday.

The clubs last night declined to give specific details about the number of tickets they have received, but both confirmed that they have been given the same number. With only a small percentage of the national stadium’s 52,000 capacity kept aside for sponsors, the media and debenture-holders, Hearts and Hibs could receive up to 24,000 tickets each.

Because not all debenture-holders will take up the right to buy a ticket for the final, the final figure of supporters of either Edinburgh team is expected to be higher than the official allocation. Some debenture-holders are known to have already sold their seats to Hibs and Hearts fans.

Hibs, who reached the final by beating Aberdeen 2-1 last Saturday, advertised a small number of hospitality packages on their website, www.hibernianfc.co.uk, two days ago. The price, including match ticket, was £180 per person. That offer has now sold out.

Hearts, like Hibs, will give priority to season-ticket holders. The Tynecastle club will use a system of loyalty points, full details of which will be posted today on www.heartsfc.co.uk. Hearts got to the final by beating Celtic 2-1 last Sunday.
