Cummings attracting Championship interest

JASON Cummings will be watched by a string of English Championship scouts this afternoon as Hibs travel to Rangers in one of the most hotly-anticipated matches in months.

The 20-year-old, who has netted 14 goals this season and 37 for Hibs overall, has also been linked with a host of clubs, including Bournemouth and Fulham, but Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs is relaxed over the situation.

He added: “If [Jason] keeps scoring goals, we know there’s going to be interest in him at a high level.”

McGeady in line for Celtic return?

AIDEN McGeady has again been linked with a return to Celtic, as the winger looks to have fallen out of favour at Everton.

McGeady hasn’t featured in a league match for Everton this year, and his only appearance this season came in a League Cup match against Barnsley.

With Celtic possibly looking to send Callum McGregor and Gary Mackay-Steven out on loan, along with injuries to Kris Commons and Stuart Armstrong, the Hoops could bring in the 29-year-old to bolster their squad. (Various)

Stokes a target for Championship trio

BOLTON may have dropped out of the race to sign Anthony Stokes but their fellow Championship sides Leeds, Cardiff and Preston are all keeping tabs on the Irishman’s situation.

Stokes was suspended by Celtic earlier this season, and has all but been frozen out. Cardiff have long admired the 27-year-old striker, who has been limited to just two appearances this season. (Various)

Deila pleased despite draw

RONNY Deila has insisted he was pleased with his side’s performace in Edinburgh, calling it ‘spirited’ despite a late goal from Osman Sow ensuring the points would be shared.

Praising Sow’s last-gasp effort, Deila added: “There was a good team spirit. I was disappointed against Motherwell, there was very little energy and too much individualism and players playing for themselves rather than the team.

“Today I got my old team back again. We were hard working, well organised and played it forward with quick passing.” (The Scotsman)

Rogic: Draw feels like defeat

CELTIC goalscorer Tom Rogic has admitted that the 2-2 draw with Hearts felt like a defeat, after the Australian’s well-taken goal was cancelled out by an injury time equaliser.

Rogic’s goal on 69 minutes gave Celtic the lead, but Osman Sow’s 91st-minute strike denied Celtic the chance to pull away from Aberdeen at the Ladbrokes Premiership summit.

Rogic said: “It was a nice goal, and good on a personal level but obviously I would rather win the match.” (The Scotsman)

Warburton eager to prove Rangers are better team

MARK Warburton has admitted his team cannot afford to stretch the patience of Rangers supporters too far as they bid to re-ignite their Championship title challenge this afternoon.

The Gers have taken just eight points from their last six outings but Warburton has called on his Ibrox stars to ‘deliver a run of consistently high-level performances’. (The Scotsman)
