Rangers newco latest

• International clearance for the transfers of Steve Davis, Kyle Lafferty, Jamie Ness, Steven Whittaker and Steven Naismith has been put on hold as Rangers newco continue to dispute the players’ status. (Various)

• Morton chairman has written to every SFL club criticising the stance taken by SFA chief executive Stewart Regan and his SPL counterpart Neil Doncaster. He said Doncaster seemed to have “lost his way” and was “unable to get back on the right road”. (Herald)

• Lafferty made his debut for Swiss side Sion in a friendly without being granted international clearance. (Sun)

• Meanwhile, Portsmouth are weighing up a move for ex-Rangers midfieldfer Rhys McCabe. (Express)

• Former Rangers player Paul Gascoigne has claimed he will make himself available to Ally McCoist next season. The troubled star said: “If I can get my hip sorted I’ll make myself available for a few games in the Third Division if Coisty needs me. There is no better time to play for Rangers than now.” (Sun)

• Meanwhile, controversial former Dundee director Giovanni Di Stefano has written to administrators revealing he is interested in buying the old Rangers before the company is wound up. He claims his bid will be bankrolled by wealthy oil sheikhs and the club could play in England. (Sun)

Kerr and Maybury train with Hibs

Mark Kerr has joined Hibernian for pre-season training as he seeks a new club. The former Aberdeen and Dundee United midfielder spent the second half of last season with Dunfermline and has been offered a new deal by the Pars, but is keen to explore his options. Hearts defender Alan Maybury is also in training with the Easter Road outfit. (Scotsman)

McGlynn takes American on trial with Hearts

Hearts manager John McGlynn is understood to be running the rule over former Everton midfielder Anton Peterlin in training this week. The 25-year-old spent a year at Goodison Park without making a top-team appearance before enjoying a season at Plymouth Argyle. (Scotsman)

Brown helping out Jefferies at Dunfermline

Billy Brown is back beside long-term sidekick Jim Jefferies at Dunfermline, but only on a voluntary basis – unless the Pars are readmitted to the SPL. Brown, who was sacked by Hearts along with Jefferies last August, was told recently that his contract would not be renewed at Hibs after spending almost all of last season across the Edinburgh football divide.
