Rangers are set to sign Enar Jaager within 24 hours as they bid to fend off competing interest from Leeds United. The Ibrox club could sell on some of their fringe players today in order to finance the move for the Estonian defender. Kyle Broadfoot is likely to go to Bristol City, Matt McKay is looking towards Korea and China, and Juanma Ortiz may return to Spain. (Express)

Bosnian striker Zlatan Muslimovic began a week-long trial with Rangers yesterday as manager Ally McCoist assesses him as a potential replacement for Nikica Jelavic. With speculation over Jelavic’s future intensifying as the January transfer window enters its final stages, 30-year-old Muslimovic is expected to play for Rangers in a closed doors friendly against Carlisle United at Murray Park today. Luigi Bruins has revealed he was sold on a move to Rangers by one-time Feyenoord team-mate Michael Mols. The 24-year-old began a trial at Murray Park yesterday, and said: “Michael raved about Rangers and told me I should grab the chance.” (Record)

Despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Celtic winger James Forrest insists he is committed to helping the Parkhead club win the title. With 11 years already under his belt at the club and contracted until 2016, the 20-year-old said: “I want to keep playing for Celtic. I have been here since I was nine and I wouldn’t think of playing for any other club.” (Mail)

Motherwell boss Stuart McCall believes SPL players are now facing “trial by Sportscene” after it emerged that Well striker Michael Higdon and his Hibernian counterpart Leigh Griffiths could face disciplinary action after they were caught on camera gesturing to supporters at separate weekend matches. Hearts midfielder Ryan Stevenson could be set to end his self-imposed exile at Tynecastle as he prepares for talks over a return to England. The former Chelsea trainee effectively went on strike just over a month ago in protest at the wages saga at the club. But the 27-year-old’s agent Kenny Moyes believes his client could yet pull on a maroon jersey before the end of the season, even though Stevenson is considering pre-contract options from a host of clubs south of the border.
