Struggling Sunderland have put Peter Lawwell high on their shortlist to fill the club’s vacant chief executive vacancy.

Rangers close to signing Matthew Knox

Rangers are reportedly close to completing the signing of Livingston’s Matthew Knox after the 16-year-old successfully completed a trial at Ibrox.

Having previously trialled at Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United, the youngster looks set to complete the move to Rangers in a £100,000 deal. (Scottish Sun)

Paul Paton fears United will ‘never return’

With Dundee United now facing almost inevitable relegation to the Championship, Paul Paton issued a stark warning that the side may never again return to the top flight.

Speaking after the side’s latest defeat to Inverness, he said: “My worry is that you get sucked down there and never get out of it. There’s nothing to say that if you did get promoted you’d get a contract to play again in the Premiership. Your form might slip.” (The Scotsman)

Warburton questions Hampden pitch relaying decision

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has questioned the decision to relay the pitch at Hampden ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

Both Warburton and Peterhead boss Jim McInally were unimpressed with the playing surface during Sunday’s Petrofac Training Cup final, with several of the Peterhead squad suffering injuries.
