Riordan linked with Blackpool

DEREK Riordan is trying to win a move to Blackpool, and is understood to have played for Ian Holloway’s side in a closed-doors match against Bolton yesterday – his 29th birthday.

Blackpool also hope to persuade John Fleck to join them on loan until the end of the season from Rangers, although they face competition for the midfielder’s services from Sheffield United.

Riordan trained with Kilmarnock last week and Kenny Shiels had hoped to bring the former Hibs striker to Rugby Park as he looks for a new club following his release from Chinese side Shaanxi Chanba.

But it appears that Riordan is keeping his options open, with Sky Sports reporting last night that Holloway gave him a run-out against Bolton as he considers offering him a short-term deal as his side chase a promotion spot in the Championship. Barry Ferguson is skipper at Bloomfield Road.
