Pat Fenlon given four-match ban for Cup Final gesture

HIBS manager Pat Fenlon was today hit with a four-match ban for gestures made towards the Hearts supporters in last month’s Scottish Cup Final.

The punishment was handed out following a meeting of the SFA’s judiciary panel yesterday.

Two of those four matches will be suspended until the end of the new season and will only come into effect if Fenlon is found in breach of rule 203 again in that period of time.

The Easter Road side were trailing 5-1 in the final minutes of the season’s showpiece at Hampden when the Hibs manager appeared to react to ironic chanting of his name from the opposition support.

The Irishman had insisted at the time that the gesture was simply in frustration at his own players and the way that the 90 minutes had panned out for his side.
