Hibs won’t appeal Pat Fenlon’s touchline ban

The Easter Road boss was hit with the punishment yesterday following a gesture he made in the direction of Hearts supporters in the Scottish Cup final last month.

After a meeting of the governing body’s judicial panel at Hampden, it was decided that two of those matches will be suspended until the end of the season and only come into effect if Fenlon is found to be in breach of rule 203 again in that period of time.

The Irishman had insisted at the time that the gesture was simply in frustration at his own players and the way that the 90 minutes had gone, however, it is understood that neither Fenlon or Hibs wish to pursue the matter.

Meanwhile, Polish champions Slask Wroclaw are the latest club to have thrown their hat into the ring for Lubomir Michalik’s signature.

The 28-year-old defender is believed to be on Fenlon’s radar as he begins to rebuild his squad for the 2012-13 campaign.

Fenlon lost a number of players in the summer and sees Michalik as the ideal partner for fellow target James McPake – who spent the last six months of the season on loan at Easter Road.

Michalik earlier this week knocked back the offer of a new contract with Carlisle United, where he has played since 2008.

Preston North End are likely to provide the biggest challenge to Hibs in the race to sign the Slovakian internationalist while Southend United are also believed to have made an offer for Michalik, which the player turned down.
